Black Joy Sundays 10th Anniversary

Black Joy Sundays is a community event started in the summer of 2015 as a response to the Charleston Massacre. It was a day of everything to do with joy, Black Joy that is essential to liberation. Black Lives Matter DC had Black Joy Sundays every weekend until COVID. 2025 marked the 10th anniversary and BLMDC wanted to bring it back this time more than ever.

The project included save the dates graphics and posters, drumming up interest for the event. Then countdown graphics and vendor spotlights. I also designed signage and giveaway bags and t-shirts for attendees.

My design concept was to keep the vibe and joyful but I wanted to highlight the history of the organization; using black and white photos of their past protests, parades, and parties.
