Client: Alpine Parrot

This is My Happy Place

In honor of the soon-to-launch size-inclusive outdoor apparel company, Alpine Parrot, I was commissioned to create a series of five illustrations that depict a diverse set of plus-sized women specifically women’s sizes 14-24 enjoying the outdoors. These illustrations were used in promotional material including on Alpine Parrot’s social media and stickers to create buzz for the launch.

Raquel Vélez, the Founder and CEO of Alpine Parrot, wanted to showcase Black, Indigenous, and other people color and people of size (all underrepresented groups in this space) enjoying their bodies and the outdoors with the overall theme “This is My Happy Place”.

I researched a lot of reference photos of hikers but actual outdoor spaces for authenticity. Raquel wanted diversity of hiking locations as well. She wanted these people to be hiking in forests but beaches and cities as well.

To the left were the first round of sketches and below are the finished illustrations.

The sketches and final linework were done in Procreate and the final illustrations were colored in Adobe Illustrator.
